Residents of Lagos State can get a TIN (taxpayer identification number) online. The TIN could be for an individual or a business. Lagos State Internal Revenue Service issues TIN to taxable persons in Lagos State. Applying for TIN with LIRS is easy to complete. Here are the steps to get a personal taxpayer ID if you reside in Lagos State. (Note: The steps do not apply to business).
- Visit the official website of LIRS at https://etax.lirs.net/
- On the Menu page, click Register as a Taxpayer. This will allow you to create a new account.
- On the create new account page, complete the application form for TIN as follows;
- Choose Individual under “Select Taxpayer Type”.
- Select Identification Type; choose BVN, Passport, or NIN. BVN means Bank Verification Number, while NIN means National Identity Number.
- Depending on your selection above, enter your BVN no. or NIN no.
- Enter date of birth showing the day, month, and year of birth.
- Tick the “I’m not a robot” box, then click Proceed.
- After LIRS confirms the information on the form, your new taxpayer account will be verified using your e-mail address or phone number.
